HARRISBURG – Rep. Mindy Fee (R-Manheim) is reminding parents, guardians and grandparents that the Pennsylvania Treasury is sponsoring a 529 College Savings Day to promote saving in advance for higher education.

“The 529 College Savings Programs are a wonderful way for parents to prepare for the expense of college,” said Fee.  “Those individuals who sign up during this event will benefit from free online enrollment, which is a $50 savings.”

The 529 College Savings Day will be Wednesday, May 29.  Free online enrollment in the PA 529 Guaranteed Savings Plan will be available by visiting the 529 website and using the coupon code 529DAY.  The promotion is good through May 31.

Families also can register to win one of five $529 PA 529 Guaranteed Savings Plan accounts.  The deadline to register is May 31.

Administered by the Pennsylvania Treasury, the program currently serves more than 167,000 accounts with $2.5 billion in assets.  It offers a range of resources specifically designed to help families and students save for college and deal with rising tuition rates, including the Pennsylvania 529 Guaranteed Savings Plan and the Pennsylvania 529 Investment Plan.
